Sierra Paranormal Society

History Deserves More Than a Ghost Story.

Sierra Paranormal Society is an independent paranormal investigation team dedicated to exploring historic locations, documenting unexplained experiences, and preserving the stories of the places and people connected to them.

Who We Are

Sierra Paranormal Society was founded from a shared fascination with history, unexplained experiences, and the stories that continue to surround historic places long after the people who once occupied them are gone.

Based in Northern Nevada, SPS investigates historical locations throughout the Sierra Nevadas and beyond. Our work combines historical research, field investigation, documentation, and critical review as we seek to better understand the experiences associated with the locations we visit.

We don't enter a property expecting to find something paranormal. We enter prepared to observe, question, document, and investigate what occurs.

Our Mission

Our mission is to conduct thoughtful, respectful paranormal investigations while recognizing that every location is more than its reported activity.

Before a place became known for unexplained footsteps, voices, apparitions, or other experiences, it was part of someone's life. People worked there, gathered there, celebrated there, struggled there, and left behind histories worth understanding.

We believe paranormal investigation should complement that history- not overshadow it.

What Sets SPS Apart - What Guides Our Work

HISTORY FIRST

QUESTION EVERYTHING

QUESTION EVERYTHING

We research the documented history of a location before investigating its reported paranormal activity. Understanding what happened there- and who was there- provides essential context for what we may encounter.

QUESTION EVERYTHING

QUESTION EVERYTHING

QUESTION EVERYTHING

An unusual sound, photograph, or equipment response isn't automatically paranormal. We look for environmental, structural, technological, and human explanations before classifying something as unexplained.

RESPECT THE LOCATION

RESPECT THE LOCATION

RESPECT THE LOCATION

Historic properties are not simply backdrops for an investigation. We respect the location, its owners and caretakers, its history, and the people whose lives are connected to it.

DOCUMENT HONESTLY

RESPECT THE LOCATION

RESPECT THE LOCATION

Our responsibility is to document what occurs- not make an experience more dramatic than it was. Explained, inconclusive, and unexplained findings all have a place in an honest investigation.

OUR APPROACH TO “EVIDENCE”

Evidence Requires Context.

Paranormal investigation rarely produces simple answers.

A photograph without context, an unexplained sound without environmental information, or an equipment response without documentation tells only part of the story. That's why we consider when and where something occurred, who was present, environmental conditions, potential sources of interference, and whether an observation can be repeated.

When we can identify a reasonable explanation, we document it.

When the information is insufficient to reach a conclusion, we classify it as inconclusive.

And when an occurrence remains unexplained after review, we call it exactly that: unexplained.

We believe credibility begins with being willing to say, “We don't know.”

History, Preservation, & Community

The History Matters.

Historical locations carry stories whether paranormal activity is present or not.

Research allows us to better understand the people, events, industries, communities, and circumstances that shaped a property. Whenever possible, we look to documented historical sources while clearly distinguishing established history from local legend and paranormal lore.

By sharing what we learn, we hope our investigations encourage others to become interested not only in what may remain within these places- but in why these places deserve to be remembered at all.

Working With the Communities Behind the History

Some of the most important people we meet aren't paranormal investigators- they're the owners, caretakers, historians, employees, volunteers, and community members who keep historic places alive.

Sierra Paranormal Society values opportunities to work with those who know these locations best. We approach partnerships with respect for property rules, historical preservation, privacy, and the responsibilities that come with being invited into someone else's space.

If you own or manage a historical property and are interested in working with SPS, we'd be glad to hear from you.
